The program for October 10 will include several classic Kabuki Theater pieces (Suehirogari, Sagimusume) plus contemporary music by Seiho Kinea, James Nyoraku Schlefer and Etsuo Kawasaki. Accompanying Ms. Kineie on several pieces will be her top student Sakurako Satoh and she is delighted to be joined for one classic piece by the venerable shamisen master Kineya Shozuko. Additionally, two well known New York based artists will perform with her – dancer Sachiyo Ito and shakuhachi master James Nyoraku Schlefer.

Clarinetist Igor Begelman's virtuosity and imagination on his instrument have been praised by critics as "remarkable display of music making" and have earned him an impressive list of awards, engagements and honors. In recent seasons Mr. Begelman appeared as a soloist with the I Musici de Montreal, Houston Symphony, Orchestra of St. Luke's, Boston Classical Orchestra, L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, among others.Igor Begelman’s program for Arts at Tenri will include the Rhapsody of Debussy, Gershwin-Begelman’s Suite from Porgy and Bess, Schumann Romances opus 94 and Sonatas of Brahms and Saint-Saens. Pianist Albert Lotto, who joins Mr. Begelman, is Artistic Director of Arts of Tenri.

A master and a prodigy with 50 years between them share their artistry to celebrate the 200th birthdays of Chopin and Schumann.
The first of two concerts will be a program of music for Two Pianos and for Solo Piano celebrating the 200th year of Chopin’s birth. That program will include the Chopin Andante Spianato and Grand Polonaise for Two Pianos and the Chopin Rondo for Two Pianos, along with major solo works of Chopin.
The second concert will be a program of music for Two Pianos and Solo Piano as well, this time celebrating the 200th year of Schumann’s birth. The Program will include the Andante and Variations for Two Pianos.

Shakuhachi Master Yodo Kurahashi in his New York Debut concert. The program will have classic Zen music for solo shakuhachi and contemporary music.

Chamber Music for Japanese Instruments Shakuhachi, Koto and Shamisen. This program will present chamber music from Japan’s Edo period, contemporary music by Tadao Sawai, and the premiere of a new work by James Nyoraku Schlefer.

The Tenri Chamber Ensemble will present a concert of Piano Trios to include well known works from the standard repertory. The Program will consist of colorful and exciting works of Mozart, Brahms and Shostakovich. Albert Lotto, pianist, Barbara Mallow, cellist, and Theodore Arm, violinist, have known one another, first as students, and later as colleagues for more than half a century. They met as students of Artur Balsam, Joseph Fuchs, and Lillian Fuchs and together they represent a deep tradition of chamber music playing rooted in the values and history of the great masters of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
