Following last season's sold-out performance, the innovative ensemble Classical Jam returns, with Sumie Kaneko, shamisen, and James Nyoraku Schlefer, shakuhachi. The concert features an eclectic array of commissions, improvisations and new music combining shamisen, shakuhachi, flute, violin, cello, piano and percussion. World premieres of Jamu II by James Nyoraku Schlefer and Chasing Time by Calvin Solomon.

Featuring the traditional Japanese trio Yasha Mai, a string quartet, and the of Dream Crepriseorner, a haunting septet and love story for sankyoku trio and string quartet by James Nyoraku Schlefer.

The return of the international string trio Ensemble Epomeo (Diane Pascal, violin; David Yang, viola; and Kenneth Woods, cello) with James Nyoraku Schlefer, shakuhachi and Dan Lippel, electric guitar. Featuring two Kyo-Shin-An Arts commissions – a shakuhachi quartet by Matthew Harris and "2Blue" for shakuhachi and viola by James Nyoraku Schlefer; plus the NY premieres of " demonstrations" for electric guitar quartet by Kenneth Woods and "The Gift to Urashima Taro" for shakuhachi and string trio by Jay Reise; and a string trio by Leo Weiner.
